December 20, 2012: The troop held its annual Holiday Party. Boris B. was presented with the Clinton B. Kenney Scout of the Year, as well as the John Coleman, Jr. Camping Spirit Award. Thad F. received the Charles V. Deschamps Advancement Achievement Award.

December 7, 2012: The troop held a one-day skills event at Durland Scout Reservation. Cameron W. and Jaylynn J. earned their Totin' Chip Award.

November 8, 2012: Thad F. successfully completed his Board of Review and has earned the rank of Life Scout.

October 8, 2012: Thad F., Graham and Ryan H-M. all completed the Family Life merit badge.

October 4, 2012: Cameron W. successfully completed his Board of Review for the rank of Tenderfoot Scout. In addition, Graham and Ryan H-M. completed Camping merit badge and Boris B. completed Family Life merit badge. Ryan H-M. also completed the National Outdoor Award for Camping.

September 22, 2012: Candidates Boris B. and Ryan H-M. were inducted into Ktemaque Lodge of the Order of the Arrow, scouting's National Honor Camping Society. Four other OA members from the troop also participated in the Fall Service Weekend which helps prepare Durland Scout Reservation for the program year.

September 20, 2012: Troop 6 welcomes new scout Jose R. to the unit. Jose joins the Hawks Patrol.

September 15, 2012: The troop performed the second of a two part community conservation project at Glenwood Lake, New Rochelle. The project focused on trail creation, soil erosion abatement, and litter clean-up.

September 8, 2012: The troop performed the first of a two part community conservation project at Glenwood Lake, New Rochelle. The project included trail creation, soil erosion abatement, and litter clean-up. The project will continue September 15.

September 6, 2012: Troop 6 welcomes new scouts Jaylynn J. and Akio R. to the unit. Jaylynn joins the Hawks Patrol and Akio, a transfer from a troop in the Bronx, joins the Paladins.

September 6, 2012: Graham H-M and Ryan H-M. successfully completed their Boards of Review for the rank of Star Scout. In addition, Michael R. completed his Tenderfoot Board of Review.

September 3, 2012: Graham H-M and Ryan H-M. earned the Citizenship in the World merit badge.

August 17-22, 2012: The troop held its annual backpacking trek for older scouts, covering some 54 miles on the Appalachian Trail from Interstate 90 in the Berkshires of Massachusetts to Lions Head - Salisbury in the Taconics of Connecticut. Upon completion of the necessary service hours, four scouts will earn the 50 Miler Award.

July 14-22, 2012: The troop held its annual summer camp at Camp Waubeeka in the Curtis Read Scout Reservation. located in the Adirondacks northwest of Lake George. In addition, two of our scouts, Thad F. and Michael R., spent an additional 5 weeks at camp as provisionals.
The following scouts earned merit badges and awards at camp:
     Austin A.: BSA Lifeguard (including CPR certification), National Outdoor Badge Aquatics Gold Device.
     Boris B.: Mammal Study, Orienteering, Pioneering, and Wood Carving Merit Badges; National Outdoor Badge Camping with Gold Device.
     Thad F.: Canoeing, Cooking, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Science, Fishing, Forestry, Geocaching, Geology, Kayaking, Leatherwork, Mammal Study, Nature, Painting, Pioneering, Rowing, Sculpture, Shotgun Shooting, Soil and Water Conservation, and Weather Merit Badges; World Conservation Award, National Outdoor Badge for Camping with Gold and Silver Devices.

June 17, 2012: Boris B. became only the third scout to earn the Troop Camper Award, joining Lars Spalin and Austin A. The Award was instituted in January of 2009.

June 16-17, 2012: The troop held an overnight canoe trek on the Delaware River in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area. The trip covered approximately 25 miles. with an overnight camp on the river shore.

June 7, 2012: Boris B. became the troop's Senior Patrol Leader, succeeding Austin A. who is now a JASM. Boris is a Life Scout who has been a Patrol Leader, Troop Guide and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He has completed Troop Leadership Training, Introduction to Leadership Skills in Troops and the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) course.

May 31, 2012: Randy O. completed the Photography Merit Badge. This is Randy's first merit badge.

May 18-20, 2012: Several OA Brothers from the troop attended Ktemaque Lodge's Spring Service Weekend at Curtis Read Scout Reservation in the Adirondacks. The purpose of the weekend is to help prepare Read for the upcoming summer camp season. SPL Austin A. and JASM Thad F. had leadership positions. ASM Stephen Cumberbatch and APL Graham H.-M. were induced into the Order of the Arrow.

May 5-6, 2012: The troop's VentureCorps had a weekend backpacking overnight in the Gunks.

May 3, 2012: Thad F. successfully completed his Board of Review for the rank of Star Scout. Ryan H.-M. completed the Snow Sports merit badge.

April 28, 2012: Austin A. and Thad F. completed the Citizenship In The World Merit Badge. By earning this merit badge, Austin A. also completed the requirements for the World Conservation Award

April 22, 2012: JASM Thad F. completed the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) covering two 3 day weekends at Durland Scout Reservation.

April 21, 2012: Jianni R. completed the joining requirements and earned the rank of Scout.

April 19, 2012: Boris B. and Cameron W. completed the Snow Sports Merit Badge. This is Cameron's first merit badge.

April 12, 2012: Boris B. successfully completed his Board of Review for the rank of Life Scout.

April 11, 2012: Boris B., Graham H.-M. and Ryan H.-M. earned the Scholarship Merit Badge.

March 29, 2012: Lars Spalin, Jr. had his National Eagle Court of Honor.

March 24,2012: Nine scouts from the troop participated in a 5 hour service project at Trinity-St Paul's Church (the oldest church in New Rochelle, founded 1688). The project involved clearing two attic spaces of unwanted material, carrying in outside, breaking down larger pieces, and filling a full size dumpster.

March 22, 2012: The troop held elections for both the Order of the Arrow and youth leadership positions. Three scouts were elected to be candidates for the OA: Boris B., Graham H-M. and Ryan H-M.. The Committee recommended the nomination of ASM Stephen Cumberbatch.
In the youth leadership elections, Boris B. was elected Senior Patrol Leader effective 6/1. He will be ASPL until then. John B. was elected Patrol Leader of the Hawks Patrol and Ryan H-M. was elected PL of the Paladins Patrol. Both are effective immediately. Cory C. and Thad F. both became Junior Assistant Scoutmasters (JASMs). Austin A. will also become a JASM when his term as SPL ends 6/1.

March 18, 2012: Graham and Ryan H-M. attended a "make-up" session of the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops. They are now entitled to wear the Trained insignia.

March 15, 2012: Graham and Ryan H.-M. both successfully completed their First Class Boards of Review.

March 10-11, 2012: The troop held a tenting overnight at site 35 in the Durland Scout Reservation. Ryan H-M., Joshua O., Jianni R, and Michael R. all earned the Durland Basic Award.

March 1, 2012: The Troop welcomed new scout Jianni R.. who joined the Hawk Patrol.

February 24-26, 2012: The troop held its annual ski weekend, cabin camping at Queechy Lake and skiing at the Bousquet Ski Area in the Berkshires.

January 28, 2012: The troop held a skills day and wide game at the Durland Scout Reservation. Both John B. and Michael R. completed Totin' Chip and Firem'n Chit.

January 25, 2012: Troop swim with Troop 240 Bronx at the Riverdale Country School

January 20, 2012: Algonquin District chose to cancel the Klondike Derby for fear of hazardous road conditions. The Troop has scheduled a day event for January 28.

January 14, 2012: The Troop ran an Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops course in conjunction with Troop 271 Mahopac Falls. The event was very successful and well received by the Scouts. A very special thanks to the Hoover brothers for giving the presentations.
Attending from Troop 6: Austin A., Cory C., Boris B., Thad F., John B. and Jonathan D.. All are now entitled to wear the trained insignia in their current position. Also attending from the adults: James Ryan (Scoutmaster), Lars Spalin, Jr (Asst Scoutmaster), John Tegtmeier (Committee Chair) and Fred Gervat (Training Coordinator and Director of NYLT.) Five scouts and two adults were present from Troop 271.

December 22, 2011: Austin A., Boris B., and Thad F. were awarded the Good Turn For America emblem. To qualify, scouts needed to participate in at least 2 separate service projects with a minimum total of 10 service hours.
The two Patrol Leaders named their Assistant Patrol Leaders for the rest of the program year: John B. for the Bulldogs and Daniel A. for the Cobras.

December 19, 2011: Troop 6 completed its re-chartering for the 2012 calendar year. The troop earned the 2011 Journey To Excellence Silver Unit Award for its outstanding program and performance during this past year.

December 15, 2011: Troop 6 held its Annual Holiday Party and Year End Court of Honor. It was a great success on all fronts - the number of awards, attendance, and all the food / goodies brought by generous members of the Troop 6 family.
The three major annual troop awards were announced, with Austin A. named as the 2011 Scout of the Year, and Boris B. garnering both the Camping Spirit Award and the Advancement Achievement Award.

December 10, 2011: Boris B. earned Citizenship in the World merit badge and the World Conservation Award, while Thad F. earned Camping merit badge.
John B. successfully completed his Board of Review for Tenderfoot.

December 8, 2011: Brothers Graham and Ryan H-M. successfully completed their Second Class Boards of Review. Brandon G. and Christopher S. also completed Boards of Review for Tenderfoot.
New members Benjamin A., Justin C., Jonathan D., Joshua O., Michael R., and Cameron W. completed their joining requirements. They are all now Scout.

December 1, 2011: Austin A. earned the National Outdoor Badge - Aquatics.

November 20, 2011: The SPL supervised a patrol based Map and Compass Day Hike in New Rochelle.

November 18, 2011: Austin A. earned the Mile Swim award.

November 17, 2011: The Troop welcomed new scout Benjamin A. who joined the Cobra Patrol.

November 10, 2011: The Troop welcomed new scouts Justin C. and Jonathan D. who joined the Cobra Patrol.

November 4-6, 2011: The troop participated in the Algonquin District Trekoree. Our combined patrol placed 3rd out of 22 competing, outstanding considering half were brand new scouts.

October 29, 2011: The troop ran a skills day at the PCNR. This included a short service project, moving newly delivered bags of sand and filling the empty sand box in the Church's playground. The whole event was made pretty interesting by a late October snow storm! Congratulations to the 4 scouts who completed their joining requirements, Daniel A., Luis A. John B., and Randy O.' They are all now Scout.

October 27, 2011: The Troop welcomed new scout Joshua O. who joined the Cobra Patrol. Joshua crossed over from Pack 6. Joshua's father, Rickey, also joined the Troop committee
In addition, Boris B. was named Troop Guide and has moved to the Venture Patrol. Graham H.-M. has stepped up as the Patrol Leader of the Cobras.

October 20, 2011: The Troop welcomed scouts Ryan H.-M. who joined the Venture Patrol and Graham H.-M.. who joined the Cobra Patrol. The brothers transferred from Troop 211 in the Bronx.

October 15, 2011: The troop held an 11 mile day hike on the Palisades Historical Trail (Long Path section) and visited the Fort Lee Historical Park. Scouts who participated earned the PHT emblem if they had not done so previously.

October 13, 2011: The Troop welcomed new scouts John B. and Michael R. who joined the Venture Patrol.

October 1, 2011: The annual canoe trip was cancelled for a second time by the outfitters thanks to excessively high and dangerous water levels on the Delaware River due to Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. It will now have to be rescheduled for the late spring.

September 22, 2011: The Troop welcomed new scout Cameron W., newly arrived from Scotland where he was a scout. Cameron joined the Venture Patrol. His father, who is a banker, also joined the Troop Committee and has agreed to serve as Troop Treasurer.

September 9, 2011: The troop participated in aa area-wide serivice project at the New Rochelle City Hall to help plant 3000+ American flags in preparation for the ceremony honoring the 10th anniverary of 9/11.

September 8, 2011: The Troop welcomed three new scouts, brothers Daniel and Luis A. and Randy O. all of whom joined the Cobras which is now a new scout patrol.
Two scouts who have turned 18, Eagle Scout Lars Spalin, Jr and Carney Burns III, have registered as Assistant Scoutmasters in the troop.

August 27, 2011: The troop's Patrol Leader Conference (PLC) ran its Annual Planning Conference.

July 17-24, 2011: The troop held its Summer Camp at Camp Waubeeka, Curtis Read Scout Reservation in the Adirondacks northwest of Lake George. Also camping with the troop were 4 scouts from Troop 620, Liverpool, NY.

July 15-17, 2011: The troop conducted a two night pre-camp shakedown tenting overnight at Queechy Lake.

July 10-16, 2011: The troop held a Wilderness Trek originating at Summit Base in the Curtis Read Scout Reservation. The Trek consisted of 5 dAYS of backpacking in the Siamese Ponds Wilderness Area of the Adirondack Forest Preserve and included a day of caving and a day of climbing at Chimney Mountain.

June 27 - August 17, 2011: SPL Austin A. and OA Troop Rep Thad F. served on the Curtis Read Scout Reservation staff for the summer.

June 29, 2011: JASM Lars Spalin, Jr. has successfully completed his Board of Review for Eagle Scout.

June 24-26, 2011: The Troop conducted a two-night tent overnight at Queechy Lake.

June 23, 2011: The Troop conducted its year-end Court of Honor.

June 11, 2011:JASM Lars S. earned the Family Life merit badge.

June 9, 2011: BIG day for advancement! SPL Austin A. successfully completed his Life Board of Review; PL Boris B. successfully completed his Star Board of Review and earned an Interpreter strip in Russian; PL Cory C. successfully completed his First Class Board of Review; and JASM Lars S. earned the Citizenship in the Community and Communication Merit Badges.

June 4, 2011: The Troop conducted a one day skills day at the Seton Scout Reservation in Greenwich, CT. Bulldog Patrol member Qon B.-C. earned his Totin' Chip award.

June 2, 2011: SPL Austin A. and PL Boris B. earned the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge

June 2, 2011: The Troop welcomed new scout Stephen D. who joined the Bulldogs Patrol. Stephen crossed over from Pack 6.

May 31, 2011: SPL Austin A. and JASM Lars S. earned the Personal Fitness merit badge

May 28-29, 2011: Lars Spalin, Jr. successfully completed the two day course and earned his certification in Wilderness First Aid (Wilderness Safety Council). Lars becomes the only member of Troop 6 to have a current WFA certificate in advance of this summer's trek.

May 26, 2011: Boris B. earned the Camping merit badge.

May 20-22, 2011: Thad F. successfully completed his Ordeal at Read Scout Reservation, and was induced into the Ktemaque Lodge of the Order of the Arrow, the BSA's National honor camping and service society.

April 29 - May 1, 2011: The Troop participated in the West Point Invitational Camporee at the US Military Academy.

April 19, 2011: Troop swim at the White Plains YMCA.

April 8-10, 15-17, 2011: PL Boris B. successfully completed the two weekend National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) at Durland Scout Reservation. He joins JASM Lars S. and SPL Austin A. among the youth leadership to have done the course.

April 16, 18, 20, 21, 2011: Lars S. ran his Eagle Leadership Project at the Covenant Church of New Rochelle. The project entailed prepping and painting a 4 storey staircase and the main floor foyer.

March 19-20, 2011: Troop tenting overnight at Durland, including 5 mile backpacking/hike.

March 6, 2011: The Troop held a Bicycle Safety Program including proper riding safety, bike inspections, and how-to for basic repairs. A number of scouts began work on Cycling Merit Badge.

March 1, 2011: Troop swim at the White Plains YMCA

February 25-27, 2011: The Troop held its Annual Ski Weekend at Queechy and the Bosquet Ski Area in the Berkshires. Great skiing with fresh powder. A number of scouts did significant work on the Snow Sports merit badge. Scouts from Troop 400, Liverpool also participated.

February 10, 2011: Boris B. and Thad F. were elected by the youth members of the Troop to be candidates for the Order of the Arrow.

January 22, 2011: JASM Lars S. earned the National Outdoors Badge for Aquatics, becoming the first scout in the entire Westchester-Putnam Council to earn one of the National Outdoors Badges.

December 16, 2010: Five scouts completed the Tracking merit badge, one of the historic badges revived for the 2010 Centennial year. Those earning the merit badge were: JASM Lars S., Boris B., Qon B-C., Corey C., and Brandon G.

October 23-24, 2010: The Troop had a tent overnight camp at Alpine Scout Camp (Greater New York Councils), The activities included a couple of hours on Alpine's outstanding climbing tower.

September 30, 2010: The Troop welcomed new scouts Julius T. and Octavius T. who joined the King Cobra and Bulldog Patrols respectively.

September 30, 2010: The Delaware River canoeing weekend has been cancelled by the outfitter. The river is expected to be 19' above normal this weekend, and conditions were deemed too dangerous. The troop will try to reschedule in late Spring 2011.

August 30 and September 1, 2010: The Troop held a Troop Leadership Training in advance of the coming program year. Six youth leaders successfully completed the course. It was the first course for Quartermaster Carney B., Bulldog Patrol Leader Boris B. and Cobra Assistant Patrol Leader Cory C.. Also attending were JASM Lars S., SPL Austin A., and PL Dominick T. All who attended are entitled to wear the Trained insgnia.

August 28, 2010: The Troop Committee held their program year planning meeting. The calendar proposed by the PLC was approved. John Tegtmeier has accepted the position of committee chair, with former Chair Jeff Apotheker returning to his previous Assistant Scoutmaster position. Alexsey Baklitsky has accepted the position of Equipment Coordinator while Lars Spalin expansed his role of Aquatics Coordinator to that of Activitiies Coordinator. Frank Watkins remains Treasurer.

August 19, 2010: The Patrol Leaders Council (Green Bar) held the Annual Planning Conference

July 29, 2010: The Troop held a post summer camp Board of Review. Dominic T successfully completed the rank of Star Scout while both Boris B. and Cory C. completed Second Class.

July 25-August 4, 2010: Austin A. and Lars S. are part of the Westchester-Putnam Council's 4 troop contingent for the centennial National Scout Jamboree at Fort AP Hill in Virginia. Both are part of Jamboree Troop 320, with Lars serving as the troop's Quartermaster and Austin as the Patrol Leader of the A-Team patrol. Both returned from summer camp Saturday for a Sunday departure by bus to the Jamboree. Lars earned all 6 Jamboree rocker segments, while Austin did 4 of the rockers and earned Aviation and Space Exploration merit badges.

June 3-5, 2010: The Troop held a two night tenting overnight at Queechy, NY. Lots of program, including a conservation project at the lake, swimming, fishing, and rifle shooting.

May 21-3, 2010: Four members of the Troop participated in Ktemaque Lodge's OA Spring Service Weekend to help prepare the Curtis Read Scout Reservation for the summer camp season. Troop Guide Austin A. undertook the Quest and achieved Brotherhood Honor, reaffirming his committment to the Obigation he took when first inducted. After being elected by the scouts of the Troop for membership, PL Dominick T. and Den Chief Hudson A. participated in a day of silence, hard work and reflection (the Ordeal) and were inducted into the Order of the Arrow.

May 19, 2010: Last troop swim of the program year at the Riverdale Country School with Troop 240, Bronx

May 15 - 16, 2010: SPL Lars S. and Troop Guide Austin A. attended the shakedown overnight with Jamboree Troop 320 in preparation for attending this summer's centennial National Jamboree at Fort AP Hill in Virginia.

May 13, 2010: The Troop welcomed new scout Brandon G. who is bridging from Cub Pack 3. Brandon is joining the Bulldog Patrol.

May 10, 2010: Members of Troop 6 attended a Try Scuba Training session at the Rye YMCA run by Bradley Gaiser of Aqua Visions Scuba in Mamaronack. Eight scouts and scouters are continuing on to take the Scuba Open Water certification. The scouts will also be working on the Scuba Diving merit badge.

May 6, 2010: Carney B. has accepted the position of the JASM / Troop Quartermaster.

April 30 - May 2, 2010: The Troop held a two night tenting overnight at Northern New Jersey Council's Camp Alpine. The overnight was in conjunction with hiking the lower part of the historical trail along the Hudson River. The trip also included a visit to the Fort Lee Historical Park on Sunday.
           Congratulations to the seven scouts (SPL Lars S., Troop Guide Austin A., and Boris B., Carney B., Cory C., Thad F., and Chris S. of the Bulldog Patrol) and two leaders (James Ryan and Jeff Apotheker) who completed the 12.5 mile Shore Trail segment of the Palisades Historical Trail in unseasonable warm weather. All earned the Trail emblem patch. In addition, Austin, Thad and Lars will also earn the Trail medal upon completion of a short essay. They had completed the Long Path segment on a earlier trip.

April 24, 2010: Members of the Troop participated in a conservation service project at Glenwood Lake in New Rochelle. The project included the planting of trees and a cleanup of the area surrounding the lake.

April 18, 2010: Troop Guide Austin A. successfully completed the two weekend National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) course.

April 15, 2010: Austin A. has accepted the position of Troop Guide. Boris B. has replaced Austin as the Patrol Leader of the Bulldog Patrol. Dominick T. will serve as Patrol Leader of the King Cobras. Both PL positions are subject to patrol elections in June prior to summer camp.

April 9, 2010: SPL Lars S. is serving on National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) course staff.

March 27, 2010: Austin A. attended the Order of the Arrow's Lodge Leadership Development course at the University of Scouting.

March 25, 2010: Scuba Presentation by Bradley Gaiser of Aqua Visions Scuba. Brad is a certified Master dive instructor, an Emergency First Responder Instructor Trainer, and a registered BSA merit badge counselor for Scuba Diving and First Aid. Brad is also an Eagle Scout.

March 19, 2010: Palisades Historical Trail Overnight was postponed due to damage from the nor'easter storm.

February 14, 2010: Troop and Pack 6 celebrated the Centennial Scout Sunday at the Presbyterian Church of New Rochelle, our sponsors. A rededication ceremony to the principles of Scouting was part of the program for the members of the Troop.

February 11, 2010: Hudson A. and Dominick T. have been elected by the scouts of Troop 6 to the Order of the Arrow, Scouting's National Honor Campers Society. As candidates, they will have one year to complete their induction.

January 7, 2010: Lars S. remains as Senior Patrol Leader. Austin A. was reelected as Patrol Leader of the Bulldogs, and Carney B. was elected Patrol Leader of the King Cobras. Dominick T. will now serve as the Troop Quartermaster.

Troop 6 has rechartered for the 2010 BSA Centennial Program year. The Troop also earned the 2009 Quality Unit Award.

December 17, 2009: The Troop held its year-end Holiday Party and Court of Honor. Of special note was the presentation of the three Troop annual awards:
         Clinton Kenney Scout of the Year: Lars K. Spalin, Jr.
         John Coleman Jr. Camping Spirit Award: Austin D. Apotheker
         Charles V. Deschamps Advancement Achievement Award: Lars K. Spalin, Jr.

December 5-6, 2009: Troop 6 had a backpackpacking cold weather overnight to an outpost site in Durland Scout Reservation. The overnight temperatures dropped into the single digits. The following scouts earned the Durland Basic Award: Carney B., Juan L., Pablo S., Chris S. and Enrique Y. This was also Enrique's first overnight.

November 12, 2009: Charlie Deschamps has taken the post of Charter Organization Representative for both Troop and Pack 6. Jeff Apotheker has moved from ASM to take the position of Committee Chairman.

November 7-8, 2009: The Troop had a tent camping overnight at the Seton Scout Reservation of Greenwich Council. This was the first overnight for 4 new scouts, Jonathan H., Juan L., Pablo S., and Chris S., all of whom completed Totin Chip.

November 5, 2009: The Troop welcomed new scouts Jonathan H., Juan L. and Pablo S. who joined the Bulldogs Patrol.

October 29, 2009: Congratulations to Dominick T. who completed the First Class Board of Review

October 22, 2009: Congratulations to Hudson A. who completed the First Class Board of Review. He has also accepted the position of Den Chief for the newly formed Pack 6.

October 17-18, 2009: The members of the Troop gave service at the Cub Scouts' Thunderbird Games at Croton Point Park. This included an overnight tent camping overnight.

September 25-7, 2009: Three OA brothers from Troop 6 participated in the Fall Service Weekend at Durland Scout Reservation. SPL Lars S. undertook the Brotherhood Quest.

September 17, 2009: The Troop welcomed new scout Christopher S. who joined the Bulldogs Patrol.

September 12, 2009: Troop and Pack 6 held a Recruitment Rally at the Presbyterian Church.

Special Kudos to SPL Lars S. who spent two weeks this summer on the Boundary Water Canoe Wilderness as part of an Order of the Arrow Wilderness Vovage based out of Northern Tier High Adventure Base in Ely, Minnesota. This included a full week of service building and rehabilitating portage trails in the National Wilderness Area, and a week long 150 mile wilderness canoe trek. Lars is the first scout from Troop 6 to participate in this program.

August 15, 2009: The Troop held a Troop Leadership Training. Completing the course was PL Austin A., PL Dominick T. and APL Nicholas P.

July 17-26: Summer Camp at the Curtis Read Scout Reservation in the Adirondacks. Dates include an extra two nights of overnight camping at Queechy Lake, and a day of whitewater rafting after camp.

July 14, 2009: The Troop welcomed new scout Frank W. who joined the Bulldogs Patrol.

July 8-22, 2009: SPL Lars S. participated in a 2 week service and high adventure program with the Order of the Arrow at the Northern Tier High Adventure Base in northern Minnesota. He is the first scout in the Troop to do an OA Wildnerness Vovage (OAV708A).

December 18, 2008: The Troop presented the Annual Awards. This year's recipients were: Clinton Kenney Scout of the Year: Austin A.; John Coleman Camping Spirit Award: Austin A,; and the Troop 6 Advancement Achievement Award: Austin R.

December 18, 2008: The Annual Holiday Party for the Seniors had to be cancelled due to ongoing renovation work in the Church's Social Hall. Instead, Scouts wrapped presents and brought them to the two senior citizen buildings where they were distributed.

December 11, 2008: Lars S. and Austin A. applied for a spot in the 2010 National Jamboree contingent from Westchester-Putnam Council. Lars has also applied to the OA Service Corps at Northern Tier National High Adventure Base for July 2009.

December 6-7, 2008: Lars S. and Austin A. earned the Durland Scout Reservation Camper Segment on the Troop's backpacking weekend on the Durland trails. Nick P., Austin R. and Rajesh S. also earned the basic emblem.

November 20, 2008: Lars S. passed his Board of Review and earned the rank of Star Scout

November 19, 2008: Troop Swim in conjunction with Troop 240, Bronx, at the Riverdale Country School

October 16, 2008: Thad F. passed the Second Class Board of Review. In addition, Tamer A., Thad F. Austin R., Lars S. and Dominick T. earned the Fingerprinting Merit Badge.

October 4-5, 2008: Eight scouts (Austin A., Cory C., Thad F. Brandon P., Nicholas P., Rajesh S., Lars S. and Dominick T.) participated in the Delaware River Canoeing Weekend at the Delaware Water Gap.

June 6-8,2008: Troop 6 had a very successful end-of-year excursion, going to both Howe Caverns and the Baseball Hall of Fame. The Troop camped both nights at Queechy Lake, and did a partial hike of Mount Greylock which was cut short due to weather conditions.

May 30, 2008: Scouts and Scouters from the Troop marched in the Mamaroneck Memorial Day Parade, held on the traditional date.

May 15, 2008: he Troop is pleased to announce the graduation of Jamad Nelson from scout to Assistant Scoutmaster. Jamad turned 18 this month.

May 8, 2008: There were some major leadership changes in the Troop. Lars S. has become the Senior Patrol Leader. Austin R. takes the position of JASM. Austin A. moves up from APL to take the position of Patrol Leader in the Bulldogs Patrol (formerly the Vikings.) Hudson A. has become the troop Quartermaster. In addition, there was a partial reorganization of the Patrols, with the Diplomats Patrol now a venture patrol.

May 3, 2008: Scouts from the Troop participated in a Law Merit Badge field trip led by Mr. Cumberbatch to the Queens County Courts in NYC.

April 26-27, 2008: The Troop attended the Algonquin District Camporee at Five Island Park in New Rochelle.

April 17, 2008: Austin A. passed the Second Class Board of Review.

April 3, 2008 to May 3, 2008: Nine scouts have completed Snow Sports Merit Badge, following up from the Troop's February Ski Weekend - Tamer A., Austin A., Hudson A., Cory C., Thad F., Josh H., Austin R., Lars S. and Dominick T.

March 29-30, 2008: The Troop had a cold weather tent overnight at Durland Scout Reservation. The overnight temperatures dropped into the low teens, with 8 AM under 20.

March 27, 2008: Austin R. passed the Star Board and Thad F. passed the Tenderfoot Board,

March 26, 2008: Austin R. earned Camping Merit Badge.

February 22-24, 2008: The Troop had its Annual Ski Weekend to the Berkshires. Overnight accomodations were provided at Mr. Deschamps's place at Queechy Lake.

February 17, 2008: Members of the Troop participated in a 5 mile map and compass hike at Ward Pound-Ridge,

February 10, 2008: Scout Sunday at the Presbyterian Church of New Rochelle, Committee Chairman Charlie Deschamps reported to the congregation on the Troop's activities in 2007.

January 26, 2008: The Troop participated in the Algonquin District Klondike Derby.

January 12, 2008: Bob Hayes (now an Assistant Scoutmaster) had his National Eagle Court of Honor.

December 20, 2007: Troop 6 had its Annual Holiday Party and once again invited the seniors from the nearby building. It was announced later in the evening that Lars S. was awarded the Clinton Kenney Scout of the Year Award and Dominick T. won the John Coleman Camping Spirit Award.

December 7, 2008: Jamil Cumberbatch (now an Assistant Scoutmaster) had his National Eagle Court of Honor.

November 23, 2007: Cory C. completed the joining requirements for the rank of Scout. Three additional scouts, Cory C., Josh H. and Austin R,, earned Rifle Shooting. That brings the total to 9 this year as a result of the trips to Queechy.

October 19-21, 2007: Overnight to Queechy Lake, with rifle safety and target shooting at the gun club.

October 13, 2007: The Troop held a Troop Leadership Training. Four scouts earned their "Trained" status: Austin A., Austin R., Lars S. and Dominick T.

September 29-30, 2007: The Troop participated in the Algonquin District Kon-Tiki held at Clear Lake Scout Reservation.

September 15-16, 2007: The Troop had a canoeing weekend traveling through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on the Delaware River. The trip was open to BSA Swimmers only.

August 1, 2007: JASM (now ASM) Jamil Cumberbatch successfully completed his Eagle Scout Board of Review. This is a truly great achievement, and Jamil's tenture with Troop 6 has indeed shown us all the capabilities and determination of those who have disabilities. It is also noteworthy that Jamil never asked for or applied for any alternate requirements or merit badges, as certainly was his right, choosing instead to complete all ranks and badges in the same format as any other scout. Jamil will be staying with Troop 6 as an ASM.

July 19, 2007: Troop Committee Member and Algonquin District Scout Training Chairman Fred Gervat leaves today for 3 weeks on staff at the 21st World Jamboree in England. The Jamboree marks the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Scouting Movement by Gen Lord Baden-Powell.

July 14-22, 2007: Troop summer camp at Camp Waubeeka in the Curtis Read Scout Reservation. As usual, there was an additional night of camping at Queechy Lake going up, and whitewater rafting in the Adirondacks with another night of camping going down. Seven scouts earned merit badges and awards:

June 24, 2007: Assistant Scoutmaster Eddie Foley will be spending his third summer as a member of the Curtis Read Scout Reservation staff.

June 21, 2007: Lars S. successfully completed his Second Class Board of Review.

June 14-28, 2007: 6 scouts earned the Rifle Shooting merit badge following up on the NRA course and target shooting sessions at Queechy Lake: Tamer A., Austin A., Hudson A., Thad F., Lars S., and Dominick T. The program was supervised by Charlie Deschamps who is an NRA instructor and Rifle Shooting merit badge counselor.

June 14, 2007: Troop 6 welcomes Christian B. who has joined the King Cobra Patrol and completed the joining requirements for the rank of Scout.

June 6-8, 2007: Weekend camping at Queechy Lake that included firing at the local gun club's range. This follows up on a multi-sessions NRA rifle safety course taught by Mr. Deschamps.

June 1, 2007: Assistant Scoutmaster Andrew Lacerenza will be spending the summer as a member of the Philmont Scout Ranch staff. Philmont is the premier training and high adventure facilty run by National Council in Cimarron, New Mexico,

May 30, 2007: Troop 6 welcomes Austin A. who has joined the King Cobra Patrol and completed the joining requirements for the rank of Scout. Austin became interested in Troop 6 while watching Bob Hayes's Eagle Peoject on Glen Wood Lake,

May 24, 2007: Troop 6 welcomes Hudson A. who has joined the King Cobra Patrol and completed the joining requirements for the rank of Scout.

May 20, 2007: JASM Robert Hayes successfully completed his Eagle Scout District Board of Review. This is an especially noteworthy accomplishment since Bob joined Scouting late, and completed all his rank advancement in 3 1/2 years. He is the third Eagle in Troop 6 in less than 13 months.

May 17, 2007: Troop 6 welcomes Tamer A. who has joined the King Cobra Patrol and completed the joining requirements for the rank of Scout.

May 11. 2007: SPL Jonathan Nwaru successfully completed his Life Board of Review.

May 3, 2007: Jamad Nelson was elected the Patrol Leader of the Durac3llz, replacing Michael M. who has left the Troop. Lars S. has moved to the Durac3llz, and was named Troop Quartermaster. Dominick T. was elected Patrol Leader of the King Cobras, filling the vacancy created by Lars's transfer. Troop 6 also welcomes Thad F. who has joined the King Cobra Patrol and completed the joining requirements for the rank of Scout.

April 28-29, 2007: The Troop participated in the Algonquin District Camporee, earning first place.

April 4 and 21, 2007: Bob Hayes's Eagle Service Project at Glenwood Lake setting up a grid and bouy system for monitoring water quality. Iona College is running a program to try to get the lake back to ecological soundness.

March 23-25, 2007: The Troop held another successful Ski Weekend in the Barkshires based out of Queechy Lake.

February 11, 2007: The Troop had its annual Scout Sunday at the Presbyterian Church of New Rochelle, with the congregation getting informed of the Troop's activities and accomplishments in 2006. JASM Robert Hayes won both the Clinton Kenney Scout of the Year for 2006 and the 2006 John Coleman Camping Spirit Award.

January 27-29, 2007: The Troop participated in the Westchester-Putnam Council Klondike Derby.

January 4, 2007: Jonathan Nwaru is now the Troop's Senior Patrol Leader. Robert Hayes, the previous SPL, is now JASM. The Thundercats Patrol changed it's name to the King Cobras with Lars S. elected as Patrol Leader. The Scorpion Patrol also changed their name to the Durac3llz. Michael M. was elected Patrol Leader. Previous PL Austin R. was named ASPL.

December 21, 2006: The Troop welcomed new scout Jamad Nelson who joined the Scorpion Patrol. Further, the Troop is pleased to announce the promotion of Edward Foley to Assistant Scoutmaster. Eddie turned 18 this month. Also rejoining the Troop as an ASM is Raffaele Care.

December 14, 2006: James Patrick Ryan has been named as the new Scoutmaster. Jimmy is a long time member of the Troop and an Eagle Scout. He was serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster. In keeping with the Troop's tradition, Margo Coleman, John's wife, passed the Scoutmaster's insignia worn by John and previous SMs to Mr. Ryan at the Troop Committee Meeting.

December 11, 2006: Funeral Services were held at the Presbyterian Church of New Rochelle for John Coleman, Scoutmaster of Troop 6. John was buried in his scout uniform. The service was attended by most of the Scouts and Scouters of the Troop, as well as the District Executive and District Commissioner. Many former scouts also attended to pay their respects. Safe home John, you were the real deal.

December 7, 2006: Mike Melenciano successfully completed his Second Class Board of Review

December 4, 2006: It is with extreme sorrow that we announce the sudden death of our Scoutmaster, Mr. John Coleman. John was a long time Scout and Scouter who had also served as the Cubmaster of Pack 40 prior to taking the Scoutmaster's position. He is survived by his wife Margo (Committee Chairman of Pack 40), son Jarod (Eagle Scout and ASM in the Troop), and brother Sheldon (Troop Committee Member and Equipment Chairman).

November 10 - 12, 2006: The Troop conducted a successful overnight at Greenwich Council's Ernest Seton Scout Reservation.

November 9, 2006: New Scouts Ryan C. and Dominick T, have completed their Joining Requirements and have reach the rank of Scout

October 14 - 15, 2006: The Troop participated as part of the service corps for the Council's highly success Cub Scout Thunderbird Games held at Croton Point Park. There were more than 3,000 in attendance.

September 30, 2006: The Troop participated in the Algonquin District Kon-Tiki held at Clear Lake Scout Reservation.

September 28, 2006: The Troop welcomed new scout Dominick T. who joined the Scorpion Patrol.

September 16, 2006: Bob Hayes, Matt Jankowski and TCM Lou Caputo were inducted into the Order of the Arrow after successfully completing the Ordeal on the Ktemaque Fall Service Weekend. ASM and Eagle Andrew Lacerenza did one of the parts in the Brotherhood Ceremony. Also attending from Troop 6 was TCM and Vigil Honor member Fred Gervat.

September 14, 2006: Josh H. successfully completed his Tenderfoot Board of Review

September 7, 2006: The Troop welcomed new scout Ryan C. who joined the Thundercat Patrol.

August 20, 2006: Jonathan Nwaru successfully completed the week long National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT). His outstanding performance during the course earned him an invitation to be on the 2007 NYLT Staff. This capped a long summer for Jonathan which included Eagle Camp at Ten Mile River Scout Camps.

August 4, 2006: Jarod Coleman and Maxwell Nwaru. Jr. had their National Eagle Scout Court of Honor. Kudos to both these fine young men on the successful completion of a long and difficult trail to Eagle. They have since turned 18, and have registered as Assistant Scoutmasters.
